Heinrich Lausberg ( 1992), was Professor of Romance Languages and Literature, University of Munster, from 1949 until his move to the Padagogische Hochschule, Paderborn, in 1972. His other publications include "Elemente der Literarischen Rhetorik" (1949) and "Romanische Sprachwissenschaft" (1956)."

The origional German edition is cheaper and not much more difficult to use.

The original "Handbuch der literarischen Rhetorik" is far and away the finest reference work on canonical rhetorical forms. But at the only price for which it is offered here, namely $1,202.00, one would really be far better off brushing up on one's German, Latin, Greek or French, since the work is indexed in all of those languages, although, strangely enough, not also in English.
