~WRITING: Confusing. Extremely wordy, overly detailed and long-winded. Time jumps forward and back without warning. Excessive use of metaphors.

~EDITING: minor errors found - missing/incorrect words & punctuation

~POV: dual alternating third person. POV change sporadically & without warning

~HERO: Cameron Cobain, 28--Fighter. Meticulously, obsessively neat & clean. Buzzed onyx hair, ice blue eyes, tattooed arms and upper body, 6'5" with monster-size junk. Manwhore. Animalistic, unpredictable, rough, dangerous, serious, brooding. Fierce, soulless fighter. Very sexual, demanding, possessive alpha. Has been obsessed with and protected Victoria since they were children - he's literally CRAZY over her, like not right in the head.

"What he felt for her flew somewhere between mad obsession and paternal commitment....she had no effing idea just how consuming he would be in her life."

"She needed his hand, his guidance, his promise to protect and care for her like no one ever had before. She needed to know just what it meant to be owned."

~PLOT: I skimmed the second half of the book but here's the first half...Cameron is a psycho. Victoria is a doormat. They used to be step siblings and Cam is totally obsessed with her. He makes her his, lays down the law and they have lotsa crazy sex.

~WHAT WORKED:
=realistic characters - Cameron has a chipped front tooth, crooked nose, scars. they aren't wealthy.

~WHAT DID NOT WORK:
=Way. Too. Long.
=H is OTT bossy, jealous, dominate, controlling. Vic finally gives in to sex with Cameron, he believes he owns her and there are now rules she must follow or be punished.

"That desire to bite and leave his mark was new, but with her, it was instinct and she needed to get used to it because he intended to leave his marks all over her for the world to see. Sure, she was going to fight him if he decided to welt her somewhere she couldn’t cover up with clothes, but he didn’t give a sh!t."
=they call each other 'Daddy' & 'Babygirl'...it wasn't hot at all
=Victoria's hair & eyes were described repeatedly...and differently (her hair was described as sable, chestnut, copper, caramel, shadowed bronze....aren't those different colors?)
=ideas/inner monologues repeated over and over and over

Hero is borderline PSYCHO.... Heroine is SPINELESS

I got about half way through this book before I called it quits... why:

1. The hero is borderline PSYCHO
2. Storyline was difficult to follow / not believable
3. The heroine is completely spineless
4. Also.. I was a little unsure of the "daddy" references... if that was all there was then okay but it seemed as though the Hero wanted to be the Heroine's "daddy" (father figure) and her lover...hmmm....

This book is getting a lot of good reviews and it is cheap (for now) and it has a decent amount of pages for the price. The sex scenes are hot as everyone is ranting and raving about but I could not get past the relationship inequity..

This book made me physically ill. I am not one for a book where the h is said to be intelligent, independent, etc but spends the entire book being dumb and dependent on an abusive "alpha" male who gets off on hurting her and then tells her she brought it on herself and that she likes it. There is a difference between being an Alpha male and being a over grown sex crazed bratty out of control maniac who has to have everything his way!!! All of the "punishments" were ridiculous and soooo over the top. The H was a control freak stalker with a severe BDSM fetish and she was just a victim then a slave. I didn't make it past the 2nd or was it the 3rd rape scene (they blurred together) in which he made her call him Daddy and he called her Baby Girl before I wanted to vomit. And then there's the "F" word. Seriously!?!?! Was it really necessary for the author to use the "F" word SO MUCH!!!! Shows a lack of intelligence or at the very least a lack of imagination. There are more curse words in the English language available try using another one every now and then. I stopped reading it around 20%-25% and didn't pick it back up until I was stuck without wifi at jury duty and needed something to fill the time. There should also be a warning label for survivors of rape and child abuse to NOT READ THIS BOOK!!!

Awesome lifechanging technique!

Dr. Callahan has other books in which he also outlines the technique given in this book. But, in this book, the technique is fully given and in more detail and easier to understand. With the info he gives you, anyone can do this with great results even just reading along out of the book as you go. If you are interested in this type of work, this book is a classic! It really does work and releases phobias immediately in just a 20 minute session. This technique changed the whole direction of my life by instantly removing phobias that were holding me back from what I needed to do. [...]

Much better than "Tapping the Healer Within"

I wish this book were back in print again. It is better than "Tapping the Healer Within", in that it is written in a much more clear and concise manner (although he does wander a bit and get repetitive at times). He discusses "fear of success" in some detail, and what he thinks it really consists of. There is a shortcut guide in the back for using the method, with pictures.

This is the same as "The Five-Minute Phobia Cure" with an extra chapter addressing Public Speaking and Cold-Calling specifically, and some minor re-working of some of the chapters.

"Five-Minute" also has the shortcut guide. The list of phobias in the book is interesting, and he suggests the same treatment for all of them.

Well worth borrowing from your local library, or getting through interlibrary loan, especially if you found "Tapping" difficult to wade through--I did. This book was much easier to understand. I do, however, think the used prices are 'way on the high side.

Some authors with later books just rehash the same (in this case good) concept over and over, without adding anything significant. This earlier book is better.

A Must-Have for Every Household!

I came across this book many, many years ago and began using the principals outlined by Dr. Callahan in my private practice as a Hypnotherapist and Counselor. I have personally "cured" men, women and children of fears of heights, water, bugs of all sorts, snakes, claustrophobia, fear of driving across bridges, gag reflex, fear of test taking, golf failure, fear of success and many more too numerous to mention in this review.
I just left a copy for my Brother-in-Law who is a dentist and am eager to see how it works for him with his patients that have gagging issues.
I have personally purchased and given away over 20 books to family and friends.

Great artwork and improved paper but the UK version is still slightly better for my use

The book in the video and in the photos are only of the US version of this book except photos where I show both books. In those cases, the UK version is at the top and the US version is at the bottom.

I purchased both the UK and the US version of this book. I reviewed the UK version on Amazon on April 23rd of this year. As I noted at that time, I really enjoy Kerby Rosanes artwork which includes an unusual look at design and I have a really fun time coloring all the little odds and ends that make up the full design. I found that I actually liked Imagimorphia even more than Animorphia – which was difficult to do as I so enjoyed his first book in this series. It still has a good number of animals in it but it expands beyond them into other design concepts as well.

So, the designs are great, as expected, but what about the publishing quality of the US published book? The UK version was published in exactly the same fashion as the UK version of Animorphia. I was dreading that might be the case with the US version as well. What actually arrived was a coloring book printed on a much heavier weight of paper than the US Animorphia book. It actually weighs slightly more than the UK version – either a slightly heavier paper or the slightly larger size of book – or a combination of both of these. The US version weighs in at 1.07 lbs. and the UK version weighs in at 1.03 lbs. The US version measures at 10 x 10 x 3/8 inches and the UK version is 9 7/8 x 9 7/8 x 3/8 inches.

That is good and a great improvement since the last book but there are some more subtle differences in the publishing that still makes me prefer the UK version. If I didn't have access to the UK version, I would have been okay with the US one but I still would have been a little bit unhappy with a couple of issues. The two most important of these are the binding and the texture of the paper.

The UK version has a sewn binding and the US is glue bound. The UK version has the design right into the binding and the US has a white strip (when you can get the book to fully open which is impossible for me on some of the pages.) Where this is most evident and least desirable is on two-page spread designs. Right in the middle of the design is a quarter inch strip of nothingness. I have no problem getting the pages to open on the UK version because they are sewn rather than glued. I did have to break the spine with a heavy crease, but I was able to get at all of the design without at white strip.

The texture of the paper is important for me as I use colored pencils for my work (due to the double-sided printing and the leak-through of markers.) The US version of the book is very smooth – almost slick. The UK version of the book has a slightly smooth but with enough tooth for colored pencils. My pencils had more of a “smeary” type of look with the US version.

Other small differences include color of paper and print. The UK is brighter white with darker print. The US is softer white with slightly lighter print. The covers are different in texture and color. The UK is matte black with glossy highlights on the designs and title. The US is a softer matte and there are no glossy highlights.

The designs are all the same though there is a slight switch up of pages in the title and bookplate pages between the two versions.

Here is what I experienced while coloring in this book and testing my various coloring medium.

Most water-based markers bleed through spotty (exception was the brush end of my Tombows which did not bleed through)

India ink pens left shadows on the back of the page.

Gel pens did not leak through the paper.

Coloring pencils do not do as well with this paper. The paper is extremely smooth and did not provide good tooth (or grip) for the color to adhere evenly. Both my wax and oil-based pencils provided a kind of smeary uneven color.

Beautifully Detailed...

"Imagimorphia" contains 77 full size coloring pages, 3 pages of "draw-your-own", 5 pages of introductory material, 3 pages of hidden objects, and an 8 page index in the back. It measures 10 inches square and is glue bound into a colorable, matte finish cover. Featuring a variety of intricate black and white line drawn images, this book is appropriate for adult colorists on all skill levels.

Paper:
The paper in this book is bright white and fairly heavy(think scrapbooking weight). All pages are double sided and non-perforated. Dry mediums/gel pens should be okay to use, but most markers will bleed through. As always, be sure to place several sheets of blotter paper under your current picture to prevent any color transfer or pencil indentations.

Artwork:
As with the author's other book, "Imagimorphia" focuses on intricate, fantasy inspired artwork. Inside you'll see animals, birds, insects, steampunk themes, skulls, ships, fish, and more. There are approx. 24 double page spreads that do merge into the binding. Most of them are lined up well, but there were a few that were very crooked. The rest of the images are contained to a single page and end before reaching the edges. Print quality is very high and the detail level is consistent throughout. Picture completion time should range from 6-15 hours(may be slightly different for each individual). Overall, this is a nicely done book that doesn't disappoint. It would be best suited for chalk/pencil colorists who enjoy coloring extremely detailed imagery.

This is one of my fav books! I have tons of fun with it! The book itself is very soft and easy to bend open to color the cross pages. I have no trouble using any kinds of coloring pencils! the design is so incredible, so much energy and so many little hidden creatures for you to discover! It's a book for all age and all gender!

A Good Start

The New World of International Relations is a good introductory book to the field of Political Science and International Relations. It presents information in a general and an understandably American way. It's not overbiased, but is written by Americans for American political views, general knowledge and understanding of current events, etc. It provides a good start for those who are looking for a good start into the ever-expanding knowledge base of Political Science

Has anyone here actually read the entire book?

Yes the book is written in a casual tone. Yes there is a focus on American foreign policy toward other nations for several of the chapters; hard not to bring it up when discussing the Cold War, Vietnam, or U.S. nuclear policies. However so many chapters focus Israel-Palestine, globalization, effects of colonialism, or why wars happen. This book is aimed at American students looking for a career path in International Relations so it is desirable to focus on U.S. foreign policy.
However it does often focus on State A's history and State B's history (Israel-Arab states, Iran-Iraq, Pakistan-India) before explaining what the result of an attack from State A would mean to State B. If A does X and B does Y, it would result in State C doing Z (e.g. the U.S. and USSR mutually stopping munition supplies to end the 1973 war between Israel-Egypt and Syria)
Those claiming this book to be right-wing must have really not read much of the book. Each chapter ends with a bibliography, most sources being scholarly journals and foreign policy journals, policy papers, books et al. I see Paul Krugman, Tom Friedman, George Soros, Richard Holbrooke, Richard Clarke as sources. Not exactly far right sources. I saw John Bolton on the right and a few others, not many. The book raises the question of the problems of global warming, running out of oil (and foreign policy implications).

The approach on the first, second, and third gulf wars shows what could never be argued as right wing bias. The chapter opens with the ancient history, the imperialized history, discusses the U.S.'s poor relations with Iran, mentioning our aiding of Saddam, how Cheney argued against a full-invasion of Iraq in the second gulf war only to contradict himself. The section on the third gulf war is too brief in my opinion but it includes "By late 2001, Bush 43 also decided to oust Saddam in Iraq...This time most of the world opposed us...Bush exaggerated and oversold Iraq's WMD capacity."

There is no right-wing bias in this book, most of it is rather centrist or left-leaning. For some the causal "talking" tone of the book, some may find it detracting. I found it to be more engaging, even if the author has to make casual assessments like "The Middle East was angrier than ever." after explaining how the Iraq war created more jihadists. Is making the simple observation that the Middle East is currently (with plenty of reason) pissed at the U.S. really all the subjective?

The book itself covers alot within 350 pages, some sections are far too terse given that the book has 22 chapters. The book serves as a good base guide for many topics and works well if the professor is engaging with more material or additional reading.

I never write reviews but I was shocked to see the book rated so low. If any of the other reviewers actually looked at the sources or analyzed the text of the main content they would find it to be informative. Maybe they have incompetent or right-wing professors?
I know it has proven itself to be an accurate reflection of U.S. policy. For example, the book basically outlined the U.S. policy on nuclear retaliation more or less exactly as how President Obama recently announced Washington's nuclear strategy (only retaliating on those not on board the the NNPT, not using nukes against chemical/bio attacks). That's only one example, but really give this book a fair shake.

A good place to start.

What I like about this book is that it is short, it is readable, and it introduces the unitiated reader quickly and broadly to various thinkers and models of IR and does so in historical context.

I agree with the others that it definitely has some phrases which are unusual for a textbook. Random opinion, or generally unacademic phrases here and there. This is defintely a detractor, but also makes the book a bit fun.

About the perspective of the author. I personally am conservative and so I was looking for a book which would help me grasp the subject from a more conservative viewpoint than the average fare. However, I would not call it conservative, I would call the book fairly centrist. While the book does view the world from an overtly American perspective and it also does not ignore conservative ideas such Huntington's "Clash of Civilizations" model of geopolitics- I would still call it centrist rather than conservative. A conservative for example, would give pre-eminence to Reagan's place in the cold war, this one does not.

If you happen to be against American foreign policy, pro-UN, etc, this book will definitely upset you, as it did other reviewers here.

Exellent refernce covering foundationals and conceptual issues of e-learning

This text covers an interesting scope of topics. Chapters 1 to 3 set the foundation by revisiting and establishing the authors position in terms of the development of e-learning, and, the need for a a new theory of learning that is appropriate to learning with e-technologies. One idea that emerges from the authors work (Chapter 8)is the idea of e-learning ecologies which is (for me) a new and possibly exciting way to conceptualise e-learning.

Taking a largely sociocultural perspective, the remaining chapters examine a number of constructions and issues that are not new to the discussion of e-learning but are reframed by the authors. These include participatory cultures, learning communities, ubiquitous learning/learners, inclusion/exclusion and cross cultural issues. The book concludes with a chapter that discusses research into e-learning.

I would highly recommend this very readable book which brings together a number of discussion related to e-learning. It is a must read for all students of learning from undergraduate to postgraduate level as well as academics and practitioners.
